The specially commissioned play tells the true story of Cynisca, the Spartan Princess who becomes the first female Olympian. It is full of character and humour.
It has all the basic elements of an Ancient Greek play:
- a chorus
- squabbling gods
- reported action
- working on the thrust or open staging
- optional mask work.

- script based work
- lots of learning about meaning and grammar in a practical way
- lots of learning about ancient Greek theatre
- learning about the ancient Greek states of Athens and Sparta
- learning about the ancient Greek Olympics
- learning about ancient Greek gods
- learning the true story of an unknown woman
- and it is full of challenging language.
The day also encourages students to develop their:
- creativity
- working with others
- confidence.
